A Laser Mower Airbag Car Boat Helicopter
Mow Your Lawn At the Speed of Light Booze!
Have you heard of the laser lawn mower they have? It's priced at $40,000 and it mows the grass without mulch, is silent, and you can also drive it through the village and up a super highway without being arrested for mowing at 90 m.p.h.! Another way to mow lawns without even using a mower has been devised. Like the Army's new laser cannon that can burn holes in a tank from 5 mi. away at the speed of light, small lasers could be clamped on the porch and aimed right to the point on the lawn where the grass was to be cut in just a minute or so. Like the gamma knife, a new laser machine doctors use with more than two hundred lasers, the beams are low enough energy before they meet (so the cat could run between the laser and the lawn without Extra Crispy heat!). The gamma knife may be used to actually remove do surgery down to the cellular level without damaging intervening tissue, and without minimal bleeding it uses no anesthesia much, so the patient can leave the hospital after cancer or other surgery in just days. The stationary lasers clamped on the roof would cut the lawn with power and also be safe because only right up to the final centimeter there would be lower levels of power. Like laser dental drills where water is converted to steam and this does the drilling, to cut the grass may have to be moistened a bit but the herb is moist already, this way it wouldn't cause a wood fire on the lawn or the Royal Moat! To minimize the risk of radiation more if necessary the lawn may be mowed in the PM.
AIRBAGS, BOATS, HELICOPTERS, PLANES, ALL WHILE AT LUNCH
This issue of Popular Science (May 08 pg 39) has this road machine mostly made of airbags on the outside in the shape of what looks like sort of a 70's Porche. It weighs about 500 pounds so so it can travel 400 mi. at 65 m.p.h. on a single charge of the its replaceable modular hydrogen batteries, just throw five more batteries in the trunk to go over the ocean and through the woods to grandmother's resort in Alcapulco! It's not coincidence and a roulette wheel I mentioned the ocean here because with its reduced weight and toughness I think it would be a real car boat (to prove toughness they drove it off a 25 ft. high cliff without an acci-dent other than an advertisement-we see Business like this all the time on the radio when the Bromo Fizz Always Wins.). "Caught a tight parking space? Just deflate the nose and fold it up for more room! Onboard Air pumps puff the car back to its normal pressure."
Finally, a way to increase the inertia itself of gyroscopes on motors of all types still with lightweight has been devised, using solitons. Solitons are a type of wave that moves forward just the right speed relative to the wavelength so the force that would have been dispersing it is instead replaced by the force of the wave at that point where it is cohesive, so the wave travels farther without loss of power. This is why a phone call all the way round the world now costs just a bit, the light wave in the fiber is more robust so it's cheaper. If the solitons all the way around a wheel are of just the right wavelength to match all the way around in the magnets or wires, they too might spin around farther with less power, making electric motors and gyroscopes more efficient for the weight which it is thought would be lighter, thus making flywheel power for vehicles or other use viable by making it so it's enough to perhaps solve what's been a major problem for flywheels high speed explosion caused by the spin. And of course this use of solitons would apply not only to the air bag car/boat/helicopter/plane's turbines, motors and traction machines, but also to many linear and other machines where more inertia for less weight would be of worth.
Popular science says "The air bag car which will go in sale for $3000 in Southeast Asia where road safetly laws are less stringent" I think could be made safe enough by use of the traction machines to be sold well in the US. and it is believed the other additions would be actually viable, they use simple cheap powerful science.

A Large Scale Plan For Drought Silt and Flooding

Here it is almost summer, and no rain! With changes in the weather, drought may be continual before it stops!
As you see on the above site, flooding and silt are a major problem in china and the rest of the world. A plan in the US to create underground reservoirs by use of atomic blasts was tried in the 1960's. It was found to be unfeasible because of radiation on the rocks of the large spherical rooms created by the blast. In the picture of the room you see a brave science volunteer standing on the level rock inside the room where the rock fell after the blast from the roof. The problem that made this unviable was about the radioactivity in the rocks after the blast, so the plan was discontinued. How to solve the radioactivity? This may have been solved recently by way of the motif of reverse beta decay familiar to physics students. Beta decay is when a radioactive neutron emits an electron and expanding outward, becomes a proton. The solution to radioactivity may be by reversing this process. First the radioactive atomic nuclei inside the atoms would be spin aligned by a strong external magnetic field like MRI so the nuclei are polarized. Next an electron would be injected into the nucleus by way of the polarized field, which overcomes the otherwise repulsive external field. The electrons would combine with the protons of the nuclei converting them to neutrons in reverse beta decay. With two neutrons (which don't attract by the strong force) where there was a proton and a neutron before (which do) the bond of the strong force would be cut and the extra neutron would move outward from the otherwise radioactive nucleus, and this would decay in just a few minutes compared to millions of years for some radioactive metabolites. This short term radioactivity would be used as a power source with collection plates to collect the thermal motion and it would be source of hydrogen for more power (protons and electrons from the external radioactivity).
Thus the idea of reservoirs by atomic blasts may be feasible. After the blast a machine with robots would be sent down to clean up the rock and convert it to hydrogen and power.
Beyond this large pipes could be laid to large rivers for water from the rivers especially when there was a flood. The flood water would be pumped into inter modal freight containers where the silt would settle, then the water would be siphoned off the top into the conduit to the reservoir, blasted down somewhat deep so when the water would fall it would also power hydroelectric generators. Ideally the reservoirs would be at lower elevation for power but not too deep compared to the land just above so the clean water would be pumped to the surface without high cost.
The silt in the inter modal containers would fill perhaps half of each for optimal shipping, or what would be optimal, this would be shipped either in barges upstream to the farmers or by road or rail, and sold to the farmers to reclaim the land. To make this economic, power from the fast radiation of the rocks in the reservoir (atomic power, like having a big atomic power plant) would be used to pay for much of the the filtering, pumping and transport cost if the power is stored in capacitors or other storage.
The siphoning off of the flood water to the reservoirs may thus be a way to save large areas from drought, save the land from the problem of silt and reduce flooding, and a source of electric power, in other words, all the advantages of hydroelectric power and more, without the darnation.
Hydroelectric power has the disadvantage of risk of dam failure as on the link about china, where 700,000 died when a dam broke in china, loss of silt to the land by erosion and more damage to the ecology than this plan.
The site says the chinese government covered up the disaster. I don't know if this would be so without the rest of the world finding out by satellite, but perhaps there weren't so many satellites then.

Ultimately, the best way to control tropical storms may be using heaters in ships, or heating beams from planes that would heat the ocean on a path ahead or to one side of the cyclone since they are heat powered. They just have one eye so they see just via myopic vision just the ocean ahead, so to control the path of heat flow could be a way also to save many lives and property damage (when you go to a concert, the lights in the air improve the sound of the shouts, we hope.). A hurricane generates about an H bombs worth of rain per second, so a heat path may be of more control than the plan about combining ions above because for the heat path the general spin of the storm cancels out on both sides, so it cancels overall. Thus like power steering of your automobile, it may take a smaller force to move it. Cooling paths may be of use, or cooling and heating paths side by side.
Another possible way to make a heat path is by towing icebergs from the N or S and propelling them into one side of the storm, by the instability caused by the iceberg on one side and the rotation, the overall motion of the storm would be headed towards where the iceberg was aimed into the storm. The ice would break up by the action of the waves and would cool the storm, also reducing it's intensity. If an icebergs speed overall were 20 knots, it would take about a week to reach the storm, usually before it would reach land. For hurricanes missed by slower machines if this is viable till more robust machines were built it would make a good source of fresh water, as in other plans to move the icebergs to the tropics like the sahara.
Hurricanes are powered by the inner implosion of heat of the ocean, like a giant bubble heat then rises up from the eye and out at the top via centrifugal force. The rising heat is why the storms generally move north. The inflow and and the upward air current powered by heat is below 10,000 feet so conceviably the implosion could move the iceburg in where it would stop heat flow up from the eye, by closing the flow of heat upward. If the storm breaks up most icebergs and this was of worth by weather experiments, to go to the eye, the iceberg may actually be covered with a sort of cover till it reaches the eye or after if it were of value. Because the iceberg is stable the cover could be kept on for more attempts at moving the iceberg into the storm to move it by reaction and for more predictable ways to reduce the heat, if this is the better plan. A recent patent on a machine that takes a ship into the calm center of the storm and then uses a cooling jet of water from below is small compared to the size of a hurricane, if the jet or combinations of jets were 50 feet across this is about 1 100th of a mile x the average width of a storm of 400 miles, or just 1/40,000th of the width of the storm, and this is just the width not height. The water jet would lose lots of it's cool fast in just a few 100 or a 1000 feet of upward motion with the rising heat. An iceberg could be 100 miles in depth and width and may have much more influence, it's 1/4th or 1/3 the width of the storm if necessary, and it's much cooler than the warmer water of the ship, to build a ship with as much influence would cost much more.
When the iceberg would reach the center, because of all the implosion all around, it would stay stabilized, perhaps stopping the overall motion of the storm till it was completely calm.
This idea of moving the icebergs from the poles might even be of use if the plan of using magnetic bubbles to heat the earth if too hot or cool the world it if was too hot in an ice age or with more solar heat and so on, turns out to be nonviable, for overheating of the earth, at any rate. If an ice age comes with people unable to move across national borders like in ages before where they would just walk south it would cause untold misery and suffering. If another ice age came about, not inconcievabl the icebergs could be moved from the poles and melted at the tropics and used for a major source of fresh water. This might be enough to reduce the albedo of the ice and make change enough to revive the earth from this woeful bane (much slower than broadband. I was thinking of low speed web with my ISP, my broadband is so broad the cheap site wouldn't load!).
For weather control on land, use of ionizing beams may be of worth to squeeze more rain out of clouds in a drought, reduce rain in a deluge, or even to prime the pump so much all the rain in a storm would fall where it wouldn't without use of particle or laser beams, especially when combined with methods of causing rain like dropping chemicals which cause rain on the storm from above. Clouds have opposite charges high and low. If more power is applied or power is reduced of the charges the actual probability of rain would be made more or reduced. While you may say that while rain is often with electrical activity in a storm, and that heat and electrical activity are not the same, they're close enough that this may be worth trying, because electricity carries heat. A storm has a lot of power, and power is heat. While this would be just about converting the beam power to heat and rain power, which is easily calculated, it wouldn't be cheap so could only be used over small areas like cities. If it also primes the pump it could be used to pay for itself with hydroelectric power perhaps, or relief from drought. (How dry is Miami beach, the water by the beach is always moist!) This may turn out to be a more viable way to achieve lots of rain than the machines they now have that extract water from the air, because if it's often not raining even if the humidity is 300% where I live! There's a lot more rain power in storms than air has.
