SOOTHING AND SOLVING COMPUTER EYE SYNDROME, CES...One symptom of computing is a big brain, so myopia is associated with genius in a more roundabout way, it would seem. My eyes have been made fuzzier by the web, and I value my precious eyewear of the morning star on the FM. You read the sites that say it's not bad for vision, but my optometrist says they have no proof. Computer eyestrain is much relieved by just reducing computer overuse, see below for page or CLICK HERE for how.
Better yet is to also have more continuous relief from dry eye. Even if your eyes are moisturized with water, you may still have severe dry eye because the eye is also lubricated by small "oil wells". To get these to flow and prime the pump heating your eyes with warm water helps. I saw this site that says to use a warm washcloth, a zip loc with is better because no water all over your face in the air conditioning or the winter. Just dab a bit of the water from the zip to your eyes, then add the heat and water. Two inches of water in the zip loc with 45 seconds on high is enough in my microwave. Caution, your microwave may not be the same as mine..
Another good method is to just rub your eyes in combination with other tricks. We read the sites that say to rub your eyes with pinkeye (conjunctivitis) is bad because you spread the inflammation. So for years I didn't try this with my eyes often in mild or even severe pain till one day I tried this and it's a real relief AHH, Spelled with lots of H's and Lahmmas. This may not be for you, because I may not have conjunctivitis even though my good looking opthamologist lady said I did years ago (I see her often!). Part of the reason this may work so well for me about the machine may be because my machine crashed and I type elsewhere not so often and also because I do eye exercises while I read (also about how to let your PC crash like I have to reduce overuse per se). You can do this as you read, no wait, Santa Marias at Chrismas all month!
You can also have dry eye combined with eye allergies. A good solution that may clear up the eye allergies for days or months in 60 seconds is Olive Leaf Extract about 8 dollars for a months worth. OLE is considered to be the most amazing herb in the history of alternate medicine, it's a powerful immune booster and it's a true antiviral so it may be the best thing for the flu of 2009 since some (Scientific American this month 9 09) are saying two thirds of the population may not have enough vaccine because of lawsuits for the epidemic that never materialized in the 70's. So many people had lawsuits to shut down the 37 or so vaccine businesses that they are now about 8 in number. Olive Leaf Extract permanently stops the viruses from copying, it's being used to treat polio, malaria, parasites and it lowers bad cholesterol, it's a great energy herb, and cleanses out and strengthens the heart and circulation and lowers blood sugar (this may be a caution if you have diabetes, see Olive Leaf Extract Cautions there are a few known, there may be more.) Olive leaf strongly nourishes your immune system so when you have eye or other allergies, it boosts the front lines of the battle, and the rest of your immune system calms down and takes a rest (reducing allergies) because it's more assured you're winning the battle, nothing calms like winning a war, right! My optometrist says to load softwear that reduces eyestrain. You can get voice recognition softwear from sites like Amazon used for 1 cent or download it at no cost from www.freedownloads.com download.com. I tried the SmartRead 0.72 build 070531 It's so like WOW OMG and other spel writes and left.. It loads in just 10 minutes even with a slow modem (mines limping to save on bootups!) This is better for your eyes too if you turn off the monitor while you upload, than turn it on and read. You just cut and paste from any site or print to the box, move the mouse, hit start and it reads while it lights up the words, spelling words it didn't know I was unaware of! I just make a cassette recording of the read and it's like a podcast but you already know what you'll hear so it's of more worth since you can find a lot more sites than podcasts, it's real hoot for comics. I would record Hee Haw for years, but this is without the ads and songs, always a laugh, and they say in like Berlitz (foreign languages) you remember spoken words about five times more than type. This may also be great for reducing computer overuse by making the best of the web where you can go away from your machine when listening to it. You can even make a readout of this page and save your eyes to find out more.
I tried the softwear that converts speech to type, but this may be of no more worth than the computer that answers the no cost 800 number's 800 number! My isp won't call me collect to cancel! You love when you call the 900 number and they Visa your charges right? This is a good way to see when the speech recognition has evolved higher. So far the speech to type I've tried is so bad at recognizing the words I don't recommend it at all, to write this site it's easier to type in the words with wrong spelling and all and then just edit it with a spell right program or two, and then check content with the text to speech. The more simple type to speech is easy to use and you don't have to retype in the words a lot, you already won in exercises with the college marms!
The download.com site has the Smartreader at no cost (If you use GPS to find the cheapest price on the Shell Station, if it's 3 hours to the station, GPS is labor saving to read maps of the stars. It helps if you have antivirus softwear like Avast, I got one goof from the downloads site, the smart reader has no problems I know of. And about the edits another good trick is to jog up to the college where I live and print out from the web saving on printers and then edit the paper so I have a copy for documentation. A real document is better for eyes and it's portable for exercise to make you stronger than just sitting in the Lexus a thousand miles. Typing and edits via printout are good for web authors too because you can see right where all the changes are without having to pour over the whole site saving much eyewear. If I'm online the outfit wire is solar powered!
But it also seems to have to do with inflammation, anti inflammatories for discomfort for dry eye and so on are of worth (the best I've found with a two year search other than Olive Leaf Extract is coconut oil with ginger, my eyes were in real pain with anything else, and I tried 20 or 30 ways to relief. Choco oil in the eyes sooths in just 2 minutes, it's not with irritation like olive oil or pumpkin oil, it also has lots of moisture and it's a powerful antinflammatory. Coconut oil has moisture and if it still hurts sometimes I just rub it in deeper more for soothing relief. Dry eye is an inflammation that makes your eyes dry so it's important to moisturize (remember to blink, which more evenly distributes the moisture of your eyes) like the oil does as well as reducing the inflammation itself. Ginger has 8 stress relieving compounds, and is a muscle relaxant to relax the muscles around your eyes, much relieving eye tension headaches, and is cheap with no known interactions, great for eye headaches put it around your eyes and on your forehead (not in your eyes like the oil). Your eyes get tired and the muscles ysed too much tense up, and this makes them tense up more in a cycle and this is why ginger by relaxing the eye muscles is of worth for immediate relief, or anytime you want more relief you can't find by other methods like eye exercise , see below. Ginger is much more powerful as a pain reliever than aspirin and it improves the digestion of all nutrients and protects and builds the liver many ways. Vitamin e and selenium from a gelcap are great antimflammatories. I use one of these each night even so the blurry vision is just of fuzzy dreams!).
Another spiffed eye saver is to turn off just the monitor anytime I upload and do exercise, and meditate on the real meaning of life (not cyber all the time for .987907 seconds.) and to help my hands not be flexed just inward I do outward flexes of my hands more when I exercise, this seems to improve my typing skill a lot more than feet on to jog in rewind and triumph over anorexia at 2000 pounds!
Another good way to save your eyes if you write a lot is to cut the amount of time you use looking at the monitor by turning off the monitor when you type in your entry and then turning it back on to edit first with spell right and then a good bit more for content. It won't give you more control over your exact words but not being in pain is so much better you'll feel more like writing and this will make your writing more alive while saving your eyes. I feel so good it's easier to write even with a bit more random word processing, I seem to have gotten used to this already. I find this saves about 44 percent more of the time otherwise spent looking at the tube. (This includes the problem of having to look to the tube to see if the speech recognition software recognises your words. This is so bad because of the words it often thinks up you can't even know what you had in mind, causing complication of the edits. When you do the typing yourself with the monitor off it's a bit slower, but your eyes will feel much better.)
If like me you use your eyes for other use (I'm a Paint Smith of Real Pictures so you may say I use my eyes twice), the text to speech I find is of real worth.

Since I can feel how moving influences my eyes, moving back from the glare makes it alright since it may reduce the glare. It's hardly natural to look at a flickering flame for ages (and a vision that doesn't move may be worse). So what I've learned is, even if a lot of sites say something is safe, consider if it was in evolution for millions of years (if they typed a lot, who knows!) and so on. The good news is the other side of this coin, if you have say conjunctivitis and there is supposedly no aid for you by science, faith in common sense is of worth too. Science of a hundred years ago was the best they could achieve, and with a complex machine like the body, there are ways like with OTC herbs that science rebuked for a thousand years, they are finding were good for more than Webster is for memos! (He's not dead, he's in BoxLots!!) Even some risk of eye damage or making this worse if you already have myopia may be worth relaxing your eyes.
In most of our evolution myopia was unknown. Myopia started with squinting at books in the 1500's. While muscles are in your eyes used to stretch your lense no muscles are used to shorten your eye. This may be why when you read a monitor at night some say it doesn't hurt your eye, you're not squinting because what you see is in relative contrast. I find that it makes my eyes feel good to turn on the light even so. One aid for myopia risk is to look away from the tube when your eyes are bit weary, this may be better than staring at the computer. A cheap e.g. stove timer you can get for just a few bucks will enable you to take regular breathers, and this is also good for exercise times. Generally timers built in your computer or even motion sensors that sense when your eyes are tired and gives you a rest by automatically reducing glare on the monitor may eventually achieve i salvation for the world wide web. When I want to rest my eyes, to hide my big tube TV I hide it inside the remote, due to science my remote is Television Sized and with its electron beam I may have found what powers finmobiles with a big pair of eyewear on the lights!
To exercise my eyes I use special cyber eye exercises I've invented. Each flexor in the body has an extensor muscle, sort of how all the systems of evolution are a balance of action reaction pairs. So when I started these eye exercises I realized by sitting at the machine a lot I was only lifting my eyes and not flexing them down or up on the right and left or right and left in general. They say for exercisers like us, Do to the Left as you do to the Right and the left set is in balance with the right usually when reading. So the lowering muscles and to some extent the left and right muscles are not strong enough just to aid the general shape of my eyes.
Eye exercise like usual exercise is good in cleansing. To cleanse a toxic area it's good to stretch the muscles so instead of stretches of just downward looks, I look up in the wide U shape to make them cleansed. The upward looks are to cleanse and the downward looks are to build up the unused muscles. Slow, downward looks with your eyes closed are also of value for computers! It soothes the best because like a weight lifted for hours in continuous contraction where you lift your eye to see the machine, if you stretch in the opposite direction you are essentially are relaxing the stressed muscle by flexing on the other side. This is like sitting in a car for 10,000 miles without doing the different exercises for your legs of walking or lying down,
(though a cool shaking machine has been devised that shakes the person to the music in the car so they aren't as tired, I wonder if eye shaking glasses might be best for CES, probably not compared to inner stretches, because just as for big muscles they say warmup by stretching is much healthier than heating by outer source of heat.) The great news for your eyes is, you're much nearer to good exercise like an RV indoors wherever you go with 10,000 stretches, we're rich for 10,000 zips of the dash of the road. Your eyes never hurt in the old data era before the web, because it's not just blinking your eyes, it's about flexing the shape of your eyeball and using the other muscles at other hours too. Thus for fast relief to reach the rest station and lodging for exercising your eyes on the superhighway that's neither either to slow to merge or to fast to exit, hopefully more of the former (enough's enough as I say on my computer overuse site of common computer sense no doubt) all you have to do is close your eyes and sense by a bit of trial and error where you can slowly move your eyes that isn't sore. Anywhere that isn't sore is good especially if you slowly repeat and build up both your eyes and your eye muscles with time. I find relief fast the first time, and was delighted to find it's like other exercise, you start to walk around after a long trip to 10,000,000 BC to see Barney and Wilma and instead of just walking, lying down alternating with walking is better yet. S0 too you may find with your eyes that you find a way to move, and then it seems to be sore in awhile, like standing after the trip so instead of moving back to the car for rest, just go to other muscles you haven't exercised, and use them, like standing to lying after the 10,000 miles, then exercise your lying muscles, then return to standing which are now refreshed, you don't return to the sitting muscles. This method of slowly looking at other angles always within the range of comfort by moving your head and keeping your eyes more stationary for control in relative mothion of your eyes can even be used while looking at the monitor if you must by just keeping your eyes, even so closing your eyes is best because it exerts more balanced pressure on your eyes and it keeps you thoughts on your eyes, not the web, where your eye salvation is with your eyes little wings and aurora. Ask your eyes for permission with each cycle, don't do anything that hurts your eyes, resume only after your eyes feel better, and always go within your range of motion and comfort. You may have to start the exercises slow, but this may be best. You want to go in cycles of eye exercise and web use and no doubt more general cycles of not too much web and rest without overuse as I say on the link. The great thing about this for your eyes is the comfort will lead you to the eye exercises, such a relief there's an important payoff right away, to reinforce the exercise cycles. And just like exercise after the 10,000 miles because of the strain of the machine it's a good idea to exercise your eyes by this method at other times of the day to rebuild your eyes up, A useful thing about this trick (if you're looking and no one else is) while you look up to see the machine you lift your chin and look down to the monitor at a higher angle, you can sooth your eyes right away ! The exercise is to flex both left and right and up and down at the same time at 45 degrees, and so on. (Wonder if they have the clip on rear view mirrors for marathon moms. I know opthomologists have zooms that have built in options like "Enrich me!" "Enrich me!").

To combine these zenith and sidewise muscles optimally, blinking in a foreward motion is also important for dry eyes to squeeze your tear ducts so you start out with moist eyes right for the start of your eye exercise. Once you've done this, the most important exercise I've seen just for computer eyestrain, is to look to the higher right side (3/4) moving your head to the left so you can compute while you exercise so you don't forget. You can do this on just one side continually for a few minutes with smaller random motions to the upper right while you blink, and then alternate upper left with your eyes and eyeblinks, with your head to the lower right somewhat, then after a few minutes alternating lower left and lower right, so you're exercising all the muscles you don't use for computing. (Even so the down angle is best for relief). By doing the one side for a longer time and then alternating with the other you make it so you don't have to stop computing while you exercise. You can get a feel for how much to go up or right and left by how it makes you feel. You want to stress your eyes a bit and then go to more relaxed flexes then repeat. A way to remember to exercise and cleanse your eyes for any computer use is just to put a Postit on your moniter where you can always see it. And like an athelete it's important to exercise before and after you use the machine, and so you don't forget especially after hours (or years of use or overuse).
Another Good Trick is eye showers with cleanser, you can get this at CVS or other herb stores. Watching a computer at zoom range is more unevolved, watching a from millions of miles away if you are a star on Star Treck would be wild, sort of like the largest meteor shower in all of history, over a city in Poland in the late 1800's of 200,000 meteors. If this may be so with both TV and computers combined, a good eye exercise- Look away from the computer once or thrice or mice in a while (it really makes sore feel soothing if you've read a lot) via slow eye stretches. With coeds like Meadow Williams, she's in the name field when some type in her site. Good exercises are also found at Go Here..com! Another good eye saver is when doing a lot of typing, just look down at your hands instead of the tube! I find words like "wow on paper" in volumes and read while I wait. Another method of aiding computer vision is where they make what you see on the tube look more real by such as shading. When the overall power of the sight is seen, it has billions of pixels, so watching a fuzzy soap goddess means she is smooth and in clean suds. They may eventually have special eyewear that exercises our vision to better than 20/20. Most geniuses are myopic and left handed. They may be myopic geniuses because they read more. Computers cause good dreams, Geniuses can even sleep well by using computers to cause trances, I wonder if there are sites, "You are getting Sleepy! Sleepy! Type in this URL!"
.
..You can also lower the contrast on your tube by pressing the leftmost button below your monitor. Repeatedly pressing the button lights up the options of the row of lights below the left center of your monitor, the first and the second one from the left are the brightness buttons of your monitor; once this is on the monitor contrast may be reduced or increased by pressing the down or up arrow buttons just to the right of the menu button. One good way to achieve this if you must compute is by lowering and raising the brightness both once in awhile, bright as Honalulu on December 25th, and not only that, when the heat goes down, you don't have to go see where your memos are!
..My mother in Europe for a visit with us shipped me an illustration of a 25 foot wide wooden sculpture illustrating scenes from the life of Jesus. Someone in the old world had spent all his life on this triumpant vision, mechanized with wheels and a lot of the scenes move such as birth and good shepherd and carrying the cross with wooden houses and musicians who play, old time wheels that look like flowers energised by steam. I couldn't see a winch so I took off my glasses so I saw the scene my mother had sent from Europe (my vision is real good if I may see all the way to Europe!). So I have proof 2 and 3 are four, yes they are two, three, and four when I count! While my relative was thinking of laser eye surgery, she opted out. Since I have proof lenses can make you so you can't see where you were able before, I think she was right about opting out of laser surgery, what to replace this with? They say one good exercise to improve your vision is to press against your closed eyes with the palm of your hands..
